Paul Mc Cartney hat den Song geschrieben, inspiriert von einem Traum. Ihm ist seine verstorbene Mutter begegnet. Jedes Mal wenn er sich an diesen Traum und an seine Mutter erinnerte, die verstarb wie er 14 Jahre alt war, konnte er in Zeiten der wilden 60er Trost und Zuversicht gewinnen, wie er in einem Interview sagte. „Let It Be“, ein Idiom, was sich am Besten mit „Lass es gut sein“ übersetzen lässt. In Deutschland war der Titel eigentlich gar nicht so erfolgreich, in 1970 13 Wochen in den Hitparaden. Höchste Platzierung #2.
